fire_update.jpg The Joint Operations Centre (JOC) at Eden District Municipality is still activated, and a follow-up JOC meeting will convene on 9 November 2017 at 11:00am.

The current weather is reasonably cool and favourble for fire conditions. The chopper has been grounded due to weather conditions.  Information was sourced from role-players on the ground, who include: Eden District Municipality, Farmers, SANParks, WoF, Cape Nature, MTO and PG Bison.

There are currently 5 active fires in the district.

Firefighters currently deployed in the district include:
•    5 from Eden District Municipality
•    30 from Mountain to Ocean (MTO)
•    44 from WoF
•    11 from Cape Nature
•    8 from SANParks
•    1 from SCFPA

The current Incident Commander is Mr Johan Brand, Eden DM Station Officer. He said that: “Most of the fires are contained and mopping-up operations are in process.  There are still 2 active fires being closely monitored and active firefighting operations are in progress.  Hard rain fell around 3 o’clock in the ‘Langvallei’ area, which extinguish all 3 fires in that area.  Fire lines are now being monitored. “

For any information regarding the status of fires within the district, contact Mr Johan Brand, Incident Commander on 061 438 9436.
