Skills development workshop - addressing today, gearing for tomorrow PDF Print

Today, 31 August 2017, a Skills Development Investment Readiness workshop is taking place in Oudtshoorn.

Earlier this month, investment Readiness Workshops took place in Mossel Bay and Plettenberg Bay.

Eden District Municipality arranged the workshops in collaboration with b-municipalities, key private sector and academic institutions. During the workshop strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in relation to the status of the region's investment readiness was discussed.

Outcomes of the investment workshops shall yield the following:

  • District growth and development path;
  • A framework for improving municipal policies;
  • Identification of regional catalytic projects, programmes and initiatives;
  • Ensuring a framework for local Black Economic Empowerment and beneficiation from investment;
  • Provincial and Local Government strategic planning for investment readiness;
  • To create meaningful partnerships between the public and private sector;
  • Tourism investment opportunities;
  • Establishment of a tourism brand (Garden Route and Klein Karoo vs. Eden);
  • Establishment of a destination marketing organisation for the region;
  • Inclusive 5-year tourism strategy for the region.
