ANNUAL EASTER SPORTS TOURNAMENT COMING SOON PDF Print

Executive Mayor of Eden District Municipality, Councillor Wessie Van der Westhuizen handed over a checque to the value of R43 000 (Forty three thousand Rand) to Uniondale United, a rugby club stationed in Uniondale.

The funding will be used to cover the cost of the planned Eden District’s Mayoral annual Easter Sports Tournament that will take place from 6 - 9 April 2012.

Mr Neville Avontuur, Chief Executive Officer of Uniondale United Rugby Club said:  “the Club has been servicing the rugby community in Uniondale since 1981” and added by saying “we intend to make an impact in the lives of young people of the Langkloof”.  During this tournament, there are a lot of people visiting Uniondale for this event and therefore the tournament has a huge economic and tourism benefit for the area.

The cheque was handed over to Karel Le Grange, president of Uniondale United, on Thursday, 22 March 2012.

Executive Deputy Mayor, councillor Lionel Esau, the Executive Mayoral Committee members of Eden District Municipality, Eden’s Municipal Manager, Mr Godfrey Louw and Mr Alfonso Sauls, Acting Executive Manager: Strategic Services were also present.
