Eden hosts Public Viewing Area
With just under 400 days over to 2010, Eden has just held a successful public screening of the nail-biting game between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at the Pacaltsdorp Sport Stadium. In spite of miserable weather, the more than 5 000 soccer fans turned up for the screening of these major soccer games on the big screen.

According to Mr Morne Hoogbaard, Eden’s Manager LED, Tourism and 2010, the day was made possible with the coordinated efforts of Eden’s departments, the town 2010 coordinators, traffic, police, who all worked closely in the run-up. For the Eden 2010 World Cup Coordinating team.

The days proceedings featured Gift Gwe, the Idols star, performances by school dance groups, live shows by the Love Life HIV/AIDS educational group, as well as rapping and dance groups.

According to Mr Andy Lamont, Eden 2010 Coordinator, the day was a resounding success because it tested the ability of the Eden District Municipality to establish soccer viewing facilities where the community could watch soccer in a safe environment and laid a strong basis for hosting such events during the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
